About Edhance
Founded in 2007 and based in Cambridge, MA, Edhance operates the largest student rewards program in the United States. With 4.2 million registered members, the discounts are exclusively available to college and university students. Edhance negotiates special deals and discounts with companies across the country and passes on the deals to its members.
The company allows college students to register up to five existing Visa or Mastercard credit or debit cards when shopping with participating merchants. Edhance works directly with the credit card companies and issuers. Because the company stores sensitive information in their database, their system requirements are extremely stringent in the areas of security, performance and accuracy.
A partnership is born
Edhance needed an offshore partner to help them co-develop some of the site’s core components. The company’s existing developers are pioneers of Grails. They knew that they needed a development firm who spoke the same language and will be at par with their skill sets. They needed a partner who could keep up with their stringent development standards, and this led them to Orange & Bronze (O&B).
On their initial conference call with O&B, Edhance was pleasantly surprised that O&B's developers had a deep and thorough knowledge of Grails, including the expected pitfalls and best practices. Edhance also believed in O&B’s use of the Agile methodology, where a collaborative environment is fostered between the client and the developers to ensure code quality. After the initial discussion, Edhance believed that they found the right fit with Orange & Bronze.
Orange & Bronze presently co-develops some of Edhance's core components in close collaboration with Edhance's development team.
