It is an object-oriented language with Java-like syntax, yet offers many of the advantages of dynamic languages like Python, Ruby and Perl. O&B has used Groovy in internal projects.

Python is an open source object-oriented language that is very popular in the open source community, and is the application language of choice for many major companies including Google. O&B's CTO is the country's top expert in the Python language and is the original author of the open source project Squishdot.

Management Team

Calen Martin D. Legaspi, SCEA: Chief Executive Officer

Calen Legaspi is a Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the J2EE platform, Certified Web Component Developer and a Certified Java Programmer. He co-founded PinoyJUG (the Association of Filipino Java Developers). He is on the board of directors of the Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA) as Technology Director and head of the PSIA Technology Council. Calen has taken units for a Masters in Computer Science as well as Business Administration in the University of the Philippines.

Calen’s career in software development started in Ayala Systems where he did research in code-generators for XSLT and smart card technology. Later on, he did research and development on an ebXML implementation using SOAP for Supply Chain Networks, a startup. For a time, Calen was a freelance consultant and trainor. One of his stints was with the Small Business Guarantee and Finance Corporation (SBGFC). Other companies Calen worked in includes Cevera Technologies and Enterworks Philippines. Most of his work for them involved Java and C++.

In his spare time, he enjoys training in the martial arts, particularly Freestyle Wrestling, Muai Thai and Boxing.

Butch Landingin: Chief Technology Officer

Butch Landingin has been developing software for roughly eighteen years, nine years of which he spent in the US, at Silicon Valley, mainly developing applications for the retail industry. One of the companies he worked for was Intrepid Systems, which was eventually acquired by Peoplesoft Corporation (which was later acquired by Oracle). He has been using Java and Linux even before their respective 1.0 releases. He even attended the very first JavaOne conference in San Francisco.

Butch is the author of an open source application called Squishdot. Written inPython and Zope, Squishdot is a news and publishing application and one of the first of its kind. It is currently being used by KDE for their news site.

Locally, the projects he has worked on prior to joining Orange & Bronze include the web-based business name registration website for the Department of Trade and Industry and consulting work for MAPFRE-Asian Insurance Corporation.
